Organizations
The
Synod of the Trinity has various organizations to assist
in carrying out the mission of the Synod. Below are descriptive
paragraphs of the purpose, responsibilities and composition
of each of the organizations separated by categories of
Advocacy, Presbytery/Church Leadership, Personal/Family,
and Communication Media:
Advocacy
Justice
Advocacy
Social
and Racial Justice witness is achieved through the advocacy
for racial harmony and through the ongoing study of and
focus on timely and emerging justice issues in the church
and the community. Leadership relating to justice
in and on behalf of the Synod is encouraged and nurtured.
Presbytery/Church
Leadership
Executive
Presbyter Forum
The
Executive Presbyter (EP) Forum is an informal gathering
convened by the Synod's Executives and Presbytery Executives.
The bi-annual event provides an opportunity for executive
presbyters to study, share concerns, and support one another;
the agenda is set by the Executive Presbyters.
Trinity
Youth Conference
Trinity
Youth Conference (TYC) is a week-long retreat to prepare
high school students and young adults, age 15 through college
age, for church leadership. The participants experience
a community of faith outside of their home churches, and
their faith is renewed and recharged. It is held at Camp
Living Waters in Schellsburg, Pennsylvania. The 2010 Conference is "Out of the Shadows EXPOSED by the Light".
The
Conference has antecedents back to 1947 in the Synod of
the Trinity. It has evolved to a youth-led program, and
each conference is planned by seven youth/young adults and
four adults. For the most part, the youth serving on the
planning committee determine the theme, workshop topics,
recruit leadership, and lead small groups and activities,
making it a leader training event.
Young Adult
Advisory Delegates (YAADs)
Young
Adult Advisory Delegates (YAADs) are representatives elected from each presbytery to the Synod of the Trinity. They serve for one year, and they have “voice” in Synod meetings. They are between the ages of 17 and 23 years old. For additional information, contact Catherine Gray in the
Synod office: 800-242-0534 ext. 244.

Women
For
mo re than a century, the mission of the whole church has
been supported by women's organizations within our congregations.
These organizations have allied themselves to each
other at the presbytery, synod and General
Assembly levels. Historically, they have been known by various names - "The Women's Presbyterial Society," "Presbyterian Women in the Church," and "The United Presbyterian Women." Presbyterian Women are passionate believers who feel called to nurture their faith, support mission world wide, work for justice and peace, build an inclusiveness among women, children, and all peoples through a caring community. The 2009-2010 mission projects are the Susquehanna Safe Harbor located in the Harrisburg & Susquehanna Valley region and the Navajo Reservation located in Arizona. For more information about Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Trinity, contact Mary McElroy, Moderator, at maryemc@comcast.net.
