MONTREAT CONFERENCE CENTER EVENTS

Montreat Conference Center, located in Montreat, North Carolina, is one of the three national conference centers of the Presbyterian Church (USA), dedicated to providing both information and inspiration to all that come.  They seek to glorify God by serving the whole Church of Jesus Christ by calling all God's people to a place set apart for spiritual commitment and renewal, a place to grow in discipleship and to build relationships, and a place to prepare one another for Christ's ministry in the World.

Some of Montreat's conferences and events will be listed on this page, which will be updated as information is received.  For complete information on Montreat, you may wish to contact the center or visit their web site at:

May 3-8, 2004 - The "Annual Recreation Workshop" is a dynamic hands and feet-on training event for all leaders of the church who want to incorporate recreation into their ministry.  This five day workshop features daily worship, an extensive class schedule, a barn dance, evening events, a country store, and short course interest groups designed for those interested in recreation ministry.

May 18-21, 2004 - As part of its ongoing commitment to equip individuals for Christ's ministry in the world, Montreat offers a "Later Life Ministries" conference.  Workshop topics include: developing support groups in congregations, pastoral care in later life, spirituality and aging, baby boomers facing later years, health issues, parish associates, and care-giving.

May 23-26, 2004 - "Bread for the Journey: The Arts and Spiritual Wholeness" Spring Retreat.  What is it that sustains folks in the midst of life's demands?  For many, creativity is a spiritual experience through which discovery and recovery take place.  This third annual retreat on spirituality and the arts will explore these themes and provide a context for hands-on creativity.

May 27-30, 2004 - "Seeing the Big Picture" is the conference theme that offers collegiates the opportunity to examine other world religions, consider what Christians believe, and develop the tools to communicate their faith effectively as they work toward reconciliation.

May 31-June 4, 2004 - "The Cost of Discipleship: Faith, Money and Possessions" is the stewardship theme of this year's Reclaiming the Text conference.  "Text" is the thing that mediates to us a voice other than our own.  It is a critical time for the faith community to return to the text in understanding our use of money and possessions.  Stewardship is urgent because our corporate and consumer values threaten to drown out our deeper calling to be faithful stewards of all of life's gifts.
