The Cross is carried in Washington PA
On Good Friday, March 25th, members of Faith Presbyterian Church of Washington PA led approximately 100 people from other churches and denominations in the 2 mile walk from their current location at 97 E.Chestnut Street to their new site at 900 East Beau Street. The day started with a brief service at Faith Prebyterian led by Pastor Ed Gray.
During the walk the seven stations of the cross were read. The cross traveled through 3 municipalities with local police escorts as well as the State Police escorts.
Assisting Pastor Gray at the new site, was the Rev. David Stammerjohn of Laboratory Presbyterian Church who with several members of his congreagation also walked. Scriptures were read and prayers were said as the cross was erected on the building site.
It was a very moving day with people of all ages participating. The cross built by several members of Faith Presbyterian about five years ago for a "Journey through Jerusalem" program, is located on a hillside at the new site.
