Mobilization to End Poverty and Hunger" at American University in

The four-day event will include information and training on critical issues
in reducing poverty and hunger in the United States and around the world.
The conference will give participants an opportunity to meet other
anti-hunger/poverty advocates from around the country and world. You will be
renewed and challenged in your efforts against hunger and poverty, with:
* Plenary sessions sharing the knowledge of nationally known political
leaders and policy makers in the anti-poverty/hunger field. Speakers from
the activist community, the religious community and the federal government
will provide up-to-date information and challenge our thinking;
* A French Embassy reception to recognize the twenty-four Millennium
Challenge Account eligible countries;
* An Interfaith Convocation at the Washington National Cathedral to draw
attention to the scandal of hunger at home and abroad led by the leaders of
thirty national faith communities;
* A Congressional Breakfast on National Hunger Awareness Day at the MCI
center will kick-off our Lobby Day;
* The Amos & Joseph Awards presentation will honor leaders in advocacy for
poor and hungry people
* Workshops equipping you to become a stronger anti-hunger/poverty activist
and providing insight into current poverty and hunger policies;
* And Christian worship services celebrating God's love and concern for poor
and vulnerable people will be held each day.

* Emerging Leaders special track for participants under the age of 30
* Wheelchair accommodations and other services available with advanced
notice
* Low income & student scholarships available
* The conference will also be integrated with the Washington Theological
Union's program The Church in the Public Square.
