William Carl III named President of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary

"I am excited by the possibilities of working with this very ecumenical world-class faculty," said the Rev. Dr. William J. Carl III, noted writer and advisor on theological education. Elected on July 21, 2005 by the Board of Directors of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, Carl will succeed
the Rev. Dr. Carnegie Samuel Calian, currently the longest tenured president of any Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) seminary.
"Of over 100 candidates we seriously considered, Bill Carl fulfills most thoroughly the qualifications of our Presidential Search Profile," said John S. Isherwood, member of the Board of Directors and chair of the Presidential Search Committee. The committee began its search more than eight months ago.
Carl will become president-elect of Pittsburgh Seminary October 1, 2005 and will assume his duties as president February 1, 2006. More details are available online.
