National Black Presbyterian Caucus
Announcing the July 16-20 - Youth Leadership Conference

Youth ages 5 through 18 years are invited to join together for an exciting time in Bible Study, Music, Creative or Interpretive Dance, Spiritual Growth Workshops, Fun and Fellowship on the campus of Prairie View A&M University, Prairie View, Texas from July 16 through July 20th. Taken from Psalms 78: 6-8, the theme focuses on "That the Generation to Come Might Know" with the purpose "to call a new generation to invite Jesus into their lives, to become more and more like him every day, and to serve him where ever life leads us" per the conference brochure.


Sponsored by the National Black Presbyterian Caucus and coordinated by its Southwest Region, NBPC President the Rev. Gregory Bentley, pastor of Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa, AL, will speak at opening worship (pictured on right).  The Rev. James Lee, pastor of Houston’s New Covenant Fellowship Church will be the banquet speaker.  Some workshop leaders include the Rev. Lonnie Oliver, pastor of New Life Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Sophia Hardy, a Memphis public school teacher, the Rev. Brian Henderson,pastor of Parkway Gardens United Presbyterian Church in Memphis; the Rev. Hugh Davis of Elmwood Presbyterian Church in East Orange, NJ, and Terri Brown, a guidance counselor with the Memphis schools.

As a service project, participants are asked to bring a personal care item — socks, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc. — that will be delivered to a local shelter.
