Seventeen people from Shenango Presbytery went to Piedras Negras, Mexico from July 3 -9, 2005 to build a home for Constructores Para Christo (C.P.C.). This is the 16th year that a group has gone to Mexico from here. We had 3 people from Calvin Church go with this group, Amy Ruby and her sons, Derek and Evan. Her husband Paul had gone on several trips over the years and died last fall from leukemia. Late last summer we had a tragic fire in Ellwood City that killed a mother and her two children from Calvin Church. The mother, Amanda, had gone to Mexico several times in the past and the house we built was dedicated in their memory.

The home that was built was for a family that has two children. Half of the group were first timers going to Mexico. The highlight of the trip was the dedication of the home and the giving of the keys to the family on Friday. It was also a great time to renew old acquaintances of people we have built homes form over the years. A young family we built for in the summer of 2004 invited the group to lunch one afternoon. Only 6 of this group helped to build that but the family wanted to say thank you again for what we had done for them. We will never forget this family and what THEY have done for US. This shows God's love expands beyond any borders that man can build.
