Laura headshotFollowing a December vote of the Synod of the Trinity’s commissioners, Laura Williams has been named treasurer of the Synod for 2019. Laura replaces Chantal Atnip, who has retired after 13-plus years in the position.

Laura is the assistant dean and an adjunct faculty member at Penn State Dickinson Law in Carlisle, PA. She is also the chair of the Synod’s Finance and Budget Advisory Team and worked on the Synod’s Personnel Manual Writing Team with the Governing Commission.

“I am excited to join the ministry of the Synod of the Trinity in this new capacity,” said Laura, who is an ordained elder at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church. “The Synod’s values align perfectly with mine, and that will make this new role one that I will enjoy. I look forward to walking with the Synod as it continues its journey of mission and ministry.”

A graduate of Dickinson College and later Dickinson Law, Laura has a long history of work in the financial field. For more than eight years, she was the senior vice president and deputy general counsel for Ahold USA, managing large and complex merger and acquisition transactions. Prior to that, Laura was a partner at McNees, Wallace & Nurick LLC, leading its financial services group. She also spent nine years with Keystone Financial Inc.

“We’re thrilled that Laura has agreed to continue serving on our Finance and Budget Advisory Team and will now step in as our treasurer,” said Synod of the Trinity Transitional Executive Susan Faye Wonderland. “As a lawyer who has been involved with a lot of larger organizations and active in the Presbyterian Church, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge about business, finance and our mission.”
