Lend A Hand is a disaster response and assistance program that is a mission project of the Presbytery of Carlisle.

Lend a HandAs of LAH’s most recent trip to Princeville, N.C., it has sent 183 volunteers and has worked on 40 homes to rebuild following flooding in 2018. In addition to the volunteers from the Harrisburg area, it has also been joined by volunteers from New York, Ohio, Maryland, North Carolina and Florida, as well as student groups from Wilson College.

In the fall of 2021, LAH will travel back to New Bern, NC, to continue with repairs from storm damage created by Hurricane Florence on Nov. 14-20. Use this link to complete the online application. LAH is limited to around 20 per trip, so sign up now while your schedule is open! Cost of the trip is $175, which covers, transportation, housing, food and materials.

Note: Lend-A-Hand, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and the New Bern facility all have Covid regulations in place. All volunteers MUST be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and must provide a copy of their vaccination record for LAH’s file. Further, when working in the homes of those needing assistance, volunteers will be required to wear a mask for the safety of all.
