Wayside Church hopes year-long schedule helps keep families connected
“I’m trying to take away the common excuse of, ‘Well I just didn’t know when the church events were going to be.’”

“I’m trying to take away the common excuse of, ‘Well I just didn’t know when the church events were going to be.’”

“We wanted something that would be lasting, not just a brief nod to our history and our future.”

“It’s only because of the divine that we have all been here 225 years.”

“These churches existed side-by-side for years and years even though they were different in that the church below the road (Middle Octorara) was the New Castle Presbytery and was all-American – it was not connected to the church in Scotland.”

“This work has given me a chance to hear perspectives from ministers and members of other churches so that I could better reflect on my beliefs.”

The Abundance Grant is a new grant recognizing and honoring the region’s continuing participation in world mission.

“You walk in and you have a sense of the generations who have come before.”

The three-day gathering not only recognized the past but also challenged those who participated to make a difference in their congregations and communities as the region embarks on its next 300 years.

“I realized that despite the weaknesses of my church, we were strong in other ways and that this strength was our currency in moving God’s Kingdom forward in our communities of operation, as well as within our presbytery.”

“Ministry/missions became something that they could do. There was much emphasis placed during the week on teenage participation and not just completing a task.”
